Recent Investments

Between 2006 and 2013 we will have invested £140m in new facilities.

Facilities include:
  • A £19.6 million Postgraduate Centre opening in 2013
  • Brand new £40m ensuite accommodation at Luton campus
  • New £34m Campus Centre at Luton campus
  • £8m Physical Education and Sport Science Centre at Bedford campus that is set to train athletes in the 2012 Olympics
  • £7.8m Learning Resources Centre as well as a £150,000 annual investment in state-of-the-art equipment by the computing department
  • A multi-million pound Media Arts Centre with a further £12m is being invested in new facilities in the Computing and Media departments
  • £1m has been invested into the Luton accommodation, which now provides 24 hour security and a pedestrian entrance overseen by a security guard on duty from dusk until dawn, seven days a week. Students with cars will receive a gate-swipe card
  • A £34 million redevelopment programme at the Bedford campus, now boasting a new £6m Campus Centre, a £4.5m 280 seat theatre and a £20 million accommodation block, Liberty Park
  • A total of £1.4m invested in our business facilities including a new Law Moot Court and unique Business Pods
  • £700,000 investment in laboratories for Psychology, Sport and Exercise Science, and Biomedical and Forensic Sciences
  • In less than five years we have been awarded £4m in Government funding for developing business partnerships and won £20m worth of contracts
  • We won the largest solo bid in the country to launch a Knowledge Exchange, to enhance our links with businesses and the community. The £1.8 million grant from the Government comes from HEIF 2 initiative (Higher Education Innovation Fund).
