Butterfield Park campus

The University runs its Nursing and Midwifery courses at two hospital sites in Buckinghamshire - Stoke Mandeville hospital and Wycombe General hospital, and also at Butterfield Park in Luton.

Butterfield Park is a 85-acre business and technology zone providing dedicated teaching and learning facilities to ensure that students have plenty of opportunities to develop and refine their clinical skills. Future developments will include simulation laboratories complete with fully functional theatres, ward, and clinic environments.

Butterfield Park campus also boasts a mix of fully-networked computer suites, and a Learning Resources Centre which is home to a digital library boasting 2,000 health-related e-journals. Nursing students also have access to the NHS Trust Libraries.

Staff and students who previously worked and studied at Luton and Dunstable, and Bedford hospital education centres relocated to the purpose-designed building at Butterfield Park in early January 2008.

The investment in new facilities at Butterfield Park campus highlights the University’s wish to provide both staff and students with the best possible teaching and learning resources that are more representative of the University’s overall reputation for excellence and quality. And the £1m investment paid off: Butterfield Park has been named Green Office of the Year 2008 in the prestigious The Office Development Awards competition for the environmental development of the future.

With the recent successful revalidation of the University’s pre-registration nursing programmes, and the forthcoming revalidation of midwifery provision, the University is now able to provide students with the facilities to equip them with both the necessary knowledge and relevant skills that are required to take practice forward within an increasingly complex area.
