The new University of Bedfordshire Buckinghamshire campus based in Aylesbury is fully equipped with contemporary purpose-built facilities to ensure that our Nursing and Midwifery students learn in a modern and vibrant environment suited for today’s vocational approaches to teaching.

The new campus helps consolidate the University’s presence in Buckinghamshire and our commitment to delivering highly-commended quality courses. The new premises boast dedicated state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities, including a skills lab, and provide excellent student support resources.

What’s more, students undertaking work placements at the Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury and Wycombe General Hospital in High Wycombe don’t have to worry about daily commute as their accommodation is based a short walk from the hospitals.

Plus, Nursing and Midwifery students who practise at these hospitals also get involved in their local community and share knowledge with the best practitioners from various local trusts and disciplines.

Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Aylesbury

Stoke Mandeville Hospital is a large hospital in Aylesbury, and is one of three hospitals within the Buckinghamshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

It provides a range of acute hospital services including 24 hour Accident and Emergency, Critical Care, General Medicine, General Surgery, Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery and Women’s and Children’s Services. The Stoke Mandeville hospital is also the base for Ophthalmology for the area.

The Burns and Plastics Services covers a population of over 1.5m - stretching north to Northampton and west towards Reading.

The site also hosts the National Spinal Injuries Centre, which serves a population of 14m. The spinal unit is the first spinal unit in the country to have a dedicated ward for children.

Aylesbury

Aylesbury is located within Buckinghamshire and has excellent transport links, making it easily accessible from all directions.

The A41 runs to the heart of the region and provides a direct link to the M40 in the west and the M25 in the east.

Aylesbury is situated only 40 miles from London and is conveniently within an hours drive of Heathrow Airport and London Luton Airport.

Wycombe Hospital, High Wycombe

Wycombe General Hospital is located in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, and like Stoke Mandeville, it is one of three hospitals in the Buckinghamshire Hospitals NHS Trust, the third being Amersham Hospital.

It offers a wide range of acute hospital services including 24 hour Accident and Emergency, Critical Care, General Surgery, General Medicine, Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery and Women’s and Children’s Services.

Wycombe hospital provides a specialist centre for Urology, and Vascular Surgery and Heart Investigative Services are also based at this hospital site.

High Wycombe

High Wycombe is the largest town in Buckinghamshire, and is located 29 miles from London.

It has transport connections to the M40, as well as a central bus station with routes to surrounding towns, and a train station where you can reach London in under an hour.

Additionally, Heathrow airport is only 20 miles away, while a local airport is located on the edge of town.
