- About Us

Since leaving Luton, Amanda has been on a physical and spiritual journey. After 10 years in the Royal Navy she has spent the last two years training to go into the church.
It was during her studies in Luton
that Amanda developed her interest in service life and for two years she was an
active member of the London University Royal Naval Unit. This was the nearest
unit to Luton so Amanda commuted to London
once a week.
Looking back she has fond memories of the SU, the gym and the
local church, "due to the great people involved with them."
She fondly remembers her dissertation tutor Ruth Hawkins who not only provided great support to Amanda but made the difficult times less stressful with her cheerful character.
After graduating Amanda pursued her career in the Royal Navy rising to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. As well as travelling the world - the highlights included Africa, China and Thailand - Amanda also serve d in both the Afghanistan and Iraq campaigns, receiving medals for both.
However, after what Amanda describes as "a profound calling" she chose to leave the Navy and train for the church. So she has spent the last two years at Ripon College Cuddesdon near Oxford. Her training will culminate with her ordination as a Deacon at Portsmouth Cathedral in July. Amanda will then start work as a curate in the parishes of Catherington and Clanfield.
Amanda, who married last year, believes that, "everything and anything is possible with hard work, determination, enthusiasm and motivation."
