Andrew is about to embark on a new career path for Princess Cruises as a Sales Associate on one their cruise liners. Andrew previously worked for NTL as a Debt recovery agent, for four and a half years throughout the length of his degree.
Andrew came to the University of Luton through Clearing, he felt he hadn’t done as well as he hoped in his A levels and wanted to go into media and Andrew hasn’t looked back.
Andrew was very impressed with Luton, he said “the Media course was diverse, full of interesting modules. It enables you to experience working on both sides of the camera, as well as live performance on stage. There is also the opportunity to study film and other styles of performance from theory. The lecturers helped enormously and were passionate about the subject.
“Obtaining my degree has made me appreciate the media industry, than I did, prior to my degree while having expanded my repertoire of performance skills.”
Andrew hadn’t even thought about being a presenter before his degree but has since enjoyed it when given the chance. Andrew also thought he would never get a ‘B’ in a dance class! But he did and really enjoyed doing that as well.
Andrew was one of our inaugural Freshers Angels when the scheme was implemented for Freshers week 2004. He and others provided a meet and greet-cum-repping service for the freshers during most of their first semester.
Andrew feels that Luton itself does not deserve the stigma received as being “the worst town in Britain” he found it handy having the university in the middle of the town. As a media student it made those last minute dashes into town for bits of costumes so much easier. Luton’s night life was excellent with plenty of night clubs to visit including the Student Union not least the Rugby Club.
Andrew hopes to spend some time in Hawaii in the near future as he feels he has missed out on taking a gap year, before finding a job in the media sector utilising his degree.
