Iona Evans

"I am an International Project Manager for Luton Business School."

Iona can’t stay away from Luton – even though she prefers her rural roots! After Iona’s first degree in business studies, she came back to the University for a second time to study a part-time MAMS course until 2003 and followed that up with a part-time Executive MBA.

After completing the MBA in 2004, Iona went on to do the PRINCE 2 Practitioner Certificate, juggling with working full-time as International Project Manager for the Luton Business School.

She came to Luton the first time because of personal recommendation from her parents and Professor David Rawson. “Luton was then a new, up and coming University and looked like a really fun place,” said Iona.

“I really enjoyed studying for my first degree and the teaching here is brilliant.
Studying part-time and working full-time for the University means that I see a lot of it! But I still think it was the right choice.

“I don’t really like Luton, as I’m from rural Devon, but it was, and is, a fun place to study with plenty to keep you busy and easy access to transport elsewhere.

“I returned to Devon in the hope of gaining fruitful permanent employment. This was not so easy and I returned to Luton 18 months later, when the job I’m still doing, International Project Manager, was advertised. My business degree gave me a good grounding for the role. I’d recommend studying at Luton. It is fun.”

Interview took place in 2004.
