“I have currently re-launched my own private venture in fashion. I design and make my own jewellery and export it around the world”.
Since leaving the University, Nkoyo has worked for Homechoice Digital Video Networks as a Customer Care Advisor, volunteering for a charity organisation in Stevenage called ‘Do Wop’, which gives clothes and food to less-privileged people in third world countries.
Nkoyo says she chose Luton because it offered her the course she wanted. “I really wanted to do a degree that incorporated entrepreneurial studies". She has always wanted to start her own business and the MA in Business and Management offered this. "Luton was also value for money, so I went for it".
“I have some great memories of studying in Luton. I particularly remember the group assessments and quizzes. I loved the teaching styles and the Blackboard intranet, which gave me access to lecture notes online. This allowed me to study any time of the day or night.”
Nkoyo lived in student halls for a while, before moving to private accommodation, which she says gave her more independence.
The 26 year-old is glad she did her MA. “My Business Master's has definitely helped me setting up my own business,” she said. “It was all worth all the hard work and I still keep in touch with a few friends that I met on my course.”
Her hobbies include tennis, salsa, travelling around the world and watching television - especially fashion shows.
