"I am now the Press Office Manager at Luton EasyJet."
Samantha Day loves her job as Press Office Manager at easyJet, at London Luton Airport – she says it is a fantastic company to work for and means she travels regularly.
She said: “Low cost airlines have revolutionised they way we travel, and I am very proud to have been part of that transition. I travel extensively both for work and for pleasure. My favourite place at the moment is Eastern Europe – an excellent destination for students as its incredibly cheap to fly there and you don’t need much spending money when you’re there.
“If I had not come to Luton I probably would have never started work for easyJet, where I have developed my career over the last nine years. You never know where you'll end up, or how things will turn out.
“I decided on doing my degree at Luton as I originate from a small seaside village in the North East called Marske and I wanted to move to a lively cosmopolitan town. Luton was a good choice. It’s a multicultural town with a lot of hidden treasures. I had a fantastic three years and made some great friends, who I still see today. The University experience made me independent, confident and open minded.”
She added: “It changed dramatically during my time there. The course kept me interested and the Uni's facilities improved. The social side - an essential factor of student life – also developed.
“I worked at the Chicago Rock cafe during my last year to earn some additional income. I stayed on for a few months while I decided what to do. My plan was to find a job to save and go off travelling for a year. But I got a job in the easyJet sales centre and worked my way up.
“My degree gave me understanding of how to look at issues from a different perspective, the importance of research and preparation, and the knowledge that no matter how much work I have to do I will cope. I got through my dissertation – so I can do anything! The course itself covered marketing and sociology, which is very useful in my day to day job.
“I now live in North London with my boyfriend Carl. I commute to Luton Airport everyday up the M1 and occasionally pop out for lunch to some of the lovely country pubs on the outskirts of town. I am a huge football fan, and often go to see Middlesbrough FC play, and still have a passion for going to see bands or clubbing.”
