BSc Hons Biochemistry with Biology, 2002

Anthony Ihimekpen

"I am a Biomedical Scientist."

Immediately after graduation Anthony continued working for a youth organisation in East London where he used to work during his summer holidays as a youth worker.

Now he is working towards his state registration as a biomedical scientist in the Pathology Department of the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro. He’s also rounding off a Master’s by Research (MRes) postgraduate degree he started in 2003.

He said: “My degree from Luton has been very useful to me in my work. The course was very exciting because we had a range of lecturers with vast knowledge of the subject area. All the practicals were fun, and the group numbers were ideal in my opinion.”

“The facilities in the library, such as support material, were also very helpful and whatever could not be accessed within the University, my department was very supportive in accessing from other reputable sources.”

“Most of my current friends are people I met at Luton, and I would recommend the University to anyone. It’s exciting, central, and above all the support from staff and students is fantastic. The cultural mix is tremendous, too – no-one ever needs to feel like a stranger at Luton.”

Interview took place in 2005.
