“I am Deputy Director of Human Resources at the University of Bedfordshire.”
Susan Hartridge graduated from the University of Luton with an Executive Master in Business Administration in March 2006. Prior to this, she had worked at the University for five years as Human Resources Manager, before being promoted to Deputy Director.
“Completing my Master’s degree has definitely helped my career. I am also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (MCIPD).
“The overall quality of the course content was excellent. My tutors always encouraged interaction within working groups. It was my first time back into education since completing my CIPD in 1997. I thought it would be really hard but I adapted to studying again really well. If other people are in that situation, and they have not studied for a long time, they should be reassured that Luton will provide comprehensive support and guidance.
“There have been many positive changes at the University since I joined it, such as the opening of the Learning Resource Centre. The online Athens system, which enables students to access electronic information on the website was really useful for me especially when I was studying at Putteridge Bury.
“Another positive development is the merger with De Montfort University’s Bedford campus. This means the University is growing which brings with it some very exciting developments”.
Susan’s favourite hobby is horse riding although she has been out of the saddle since a car accident last year.
“My hopes and ambitions for the future are to progress and become a Director in my field.”
Interview took place in June 2006.
