"I am a BBC Radio Berkshire presenter."
Marie Kemp thanks the work she did on the University’s own Luton FM station for helping her to get a great job as a breakfast presenter on local BBC radio.
She said: “I presented on Luton FM every year with Matthew Fisher and in my third year I ran the station with four others – which was a big success."
“I was primarily a manager in charge of music output and I continued to present my Drive Time show with Matt, called 'The Matt and Marie Show'."
"When I left Luton I went straight into a job at 2-ten FM as a ‘Black Thunder’, part of the promotional team. This progressed to being a part-time station producer."
“During this time I was offered a job at Reading College of Arts and Design, where I now teach Media Production and Performance. It was through this job that the BBC contacted me to do some voluntary work for BBC Radio Berkshire."
“I was then offered a job as a paid presenter as part of the Breakfast Team which is early but really good!"
“I learned all I needed to know from the course I studied at Luton and I definitely wouldn’t be able to teach without having done it!"
“During my three years at Luton I had the best time and I still meet up with everyone every couple of months."
“My lecturer Janey Gordon was great. I started off as a Media Production student but I loved the fact that I could decide what I really wanted to do, by studying lots of different modules in the first year.”
Interview took place in 2004.
