It's our attitude, not just our aptitude, that will ultimately determine our altitude. That’s what Gil Marer believes – and he’s not all mouth and no trousers.

Gil, who graduated in Law in 1996, is now an ‘entrepreneur’ and has several motivational companies in the UK and the US that are geared towards inspiring people to get that right approach to life and business.

He can trace his success back to his days at Luton. “I came from a kibbutz in Israel and wanted to be relatively close to London. But it was mainly because it was a new university - hungry and really trying to prove itself."

“The lecturers were phenomenal who had commercial as well as academic backgrounds. My degree helped me step up on the business ladder – now I’m my own best lawyer.”

Gil, who’s married and living in London, still meets old friends from Luton days. “We talk about the old times and the new times too. I like to live and play at 200 miles an hour.”

He reckons any potential student will have a good time at Luton. “My advice is just go for it: have plenty of fun but work hard too, think about how excellent you want to be.”

As Gil says on his website www.gilmarer.com: “We become what we think about. We can control what we think about. Our mind assumes the size of the things we allow it to be bothered by.”
