- Vuyiswa Ncontsa: BSc Applied Biology with Analytical Science
Vuyiswa Ncontsa
BSc Applied Biology with Analytical Science, 1992

"I am working for an NGO in Education in South Africa."
Vuyiswa returned to South Africa on completing her degree and started a career in Research and Development. She now works for an NGO in Education, helping to develop and research policies for a democratic South Africa.
The NGO was established in 1993 and Vuyiswa even got to meet Nelson Mandela at the celebrations for its tenth anniversary event. (Click on photograph to see Vuyiswa with Nelson Mandela.)
“I’ve been working here for the past two years and I absolutely love what I do,” she said.
Vuyiswa lives in Johannesburg with her husband and two children. “We live in what is called ‘a plot’ – a four-acre property,” she said.
She originally came to Luton because she liked the course content and, although she does not use her scientific training directly in her current role, she found it was a great foundation for working in education. She really enjoyed her time at Luton and particularly liked the friendly, small town atmosphere.
Interview took place in 2004.
