- Wayne McBean: LLB Law
Wayne McBean
LLB Law, 2006

“I will be going to the College of Law in London to complete the Legal Practice Course (LPC).”
When Wayne left school, he was originally interested in journalism and had already gained his City in Guilds in Journalism, before deciding to take up law.
He previously worked for Nat West as a Personal Bank Manager, Dun and Bradstreet as a Project Manager and also at Camelot Group PLC (National Lottery) as a Winners Advisor.
Wayne decided if the
opportunity arose for him to study full-time and he could save enough money he
would go on to take his Law Degree.
At the age of twenty five he went to West Herts College as a mature student and obtained his A level in Law, before starting his Law degree course here at the University.
To help finance his studies Wayne has worked in the Communications and Marketing department at the University for three years as a marketing assistant.
During his time as a student Wayne was asked to do a presentation on behalf of the Coalition of Modern Universities (CMU) at a reception at the House of Commons.
In their presentations Wayne and other students from non-traditional academic backgrounds gave examples of studying at a modern university to the invited audience including Jon Redwood, (MP), Ruth Kelly (MP), Kelvin Hopkins(MP) as well as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Bedfordshire, Professor Les Ebdon, and Vice Chancellors from other institutions.
“My Law degree has definitely given me the confidence to carry on with future studies like my Legal Practice Course and qualify as a solicitor.”
Interview took place in August 2006.
