MSc Human Resource Management, 2004

Aradhana Sobti

"I am now HR Executive (Recruitments), at GE (General Electric) IT Services, India."

Aradhana had always dreamed of working with GE, ranked number one in the world and number two on the US list of the world’s most admired companies. (Fortune Magazine, Tuesday, February 22, 2005). She is now part of their IT Services, as an HR Executive (Recruitments).

She said: “The company is employee orientated and is known for its best HR practices. It not only provides career growth, but also gives opportunity to grow on a personal front. I would like to thank my parents, tutors and my best friends for making my dream true.”

Before doing her Masters degree at Luton, Aradhana graduated with her first degree in Law, a five-year integrated course from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, in 2001.

After graduating from Luton, she was offered a job of HR Executive in an esteemed international school in India. From there, she was offered the role of Executive Officer, HR & IT, in one of the business units of GE (General Electric) in India.

Aradhana said: “My degree from Luton has been absolutely invaluable – the modules I studied have helped me in my present role. Overall, the post-graduate degree has added to my confidence and given me a sense of detail. Also, it’s an internationally recognised qualification, which is attractive to multi national companies."

“While studying, I gained work experience from renowned organisations like Vauxhall Motors (UK) and NatWest Bank (UK) and that has enhanced my communication, persuasion and negotiation skills."

“Luton is excellent at teaching and is one of the few UK universities that provides an opportunity to obtain Licentiateship Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development whilst undertaking this course."

“I made many friends from all over the world and two of them are a part of my family now. I loved the peaceful, ideal and heavenly Putteridge Bury site, where all my lectures were held. I left the University having gained all the necessary knowledge required from our tutors and was able to put all those years of studying and learning into practice."

She added: “I’d advise anyone to enrol for this course, as Luton is an affordable University which has a lot to offer to its students. It’s a multi-cultural town that makes international students feel at home. There are also some good companies based there, providing part-time and full-time employment opportunities. In a nutshell, it’s a good choice to make that one will not regret.”
