"I now work as a Sports Therapist at Dundee United Football Club."

“I’m originally from Angus so it’s great that I’ve got a job back at home. I actually studied the first two years of my course in Edinburgh but thanks to a contact between my college and the University of Luton, I moved down to Luton for my third and final year.

“The reason for this was that at the time, Luton was the only University in the country that offered the course and also, Sports Therapy UK are based in Luton. In fact there were three of us that came down together and there turned out to be 11 or 12 of us from Scotland on the course! That’s how specialised it was at the time!

“The year I spent in Luton was excellent. I was lucky enough to get some work experience, doing massage for rugby players, up at Stockwood Park in Luton and I recently went on tour with the Scotland Rugby League side for two weeks, through contacts I made during my work experience.

“My advice to anyone going to University is take any work placements you can get if they’re relevant to what you want to do. I was so lucky to get mine and without them I wouldn’t have secured the job I’ve got now. A degree is an excellent thing to have but you need experience to back it up – courses that offer placements are well worth doing.”
