This section focuses on aspects which link the curriculum with students' past experiences.

Students arrive at university with a host of different
backgrounds, experiences and expectations. How can we best ‘bridge back’ to make the transition into Higher Education as smooth as possible yet establish, from the outset, the different
expectations of studying at HE level? This was the issue explored within this aspect of Bridges’ work.
Our ultimate answer was not to reach back to students before they entered the university; their backgrounds and locations were just too diverse, but to focus on effective personalised induction and support - thus ‘personalised learning’ became a core part of the CRe8 agenda.
