Bridging communities

Bridging communities

Universities are made up of diverse communities - some with gate-holders who restrict access and admission. This aspect of Bridges' work sought to break down some real and perceived barriers such as those between students and staff, academics and professional support, research and teaching, and the University and the wider community. Further work was taken in and around building and sustaining new communities.

Communities

In this section you can read about projects and activities that Bridges has undertaken to bridge to students, staff and to create various learning spaces appropriate to CRe8 and sustaining communities around the University. To further the building of the above communities, the Bridges included an emphasis on developing approaches to workplace learning.

Externally, Bridges established co-operation with various networks including the NARN (National Action Research Network), CRA (Centre for Recording Achievements) and SLTN (Student Learning and Teaching Network). You can visit the EvidenceNet website to access important T&L resources and materials of other CETLs across the country, the HEA Subject Centres and their networks.

EvidenceNet website was created by HEA to promote evidence-informed practice in learning and teaching in Higher Education. The site offers an access to T&L resources, events, journal articles, book chapters and shares information with communities of practice through a wiki and NING blogs.
