In August 2010 the Bridges CETL came to an end after
five years of activity supporting students' personal development and
employability. The outcome of Bridges’ work at an institutional level
is captured in the Education strategy which incorporates the CRe8 agenda. Through its implementation and the associated 'SOARing to Success' approaches,
Bridges will be able to influence the University’s approach to teaching
and learning far into the future and students' learning and their
employment long after graduation.
At a local level the work of CETL Fellows, Associates
and Employability Fellows has had, and will continue to have, a lasting
impact on how students experience their learning and the extent to
which they are able to meet the challenges of a complex, uncertain and
ever-changing world.
Details of Bridges’ work can be found on this website and its many resources whilst our experience of working as part of
a national CETL Network and delivering the initial Bridges’ aims can be
found in the final Bridges report (view PDF).
However, curriculum change such as that embodied in Bridges and its
work never ends. As well as supporting the implementation of CRe8 and
SOAR, the University’s next priorities include exploring graduate
impact statements, engaging students further in taking responsibility
for their learning and examining how we can best record student
outcomes. We will also be exploring the specific extension of CRe8 and
SOAR to taught postgraduate learning.
It has been a real privilege to have worked with so
many committed, innovative and knowledgeable individuals over the past
five years. My appreciation goes out to everyone who has made it such a
meaningful, creative and genuinely collaborative experience.
