Flux Intra-University Competition

36
students were selected from open invitation and applications from across the University,
and have been prepped and primed during January and February to
develop skills such as those that are sought at Flux, including business
awareness, decision-making, team effectiveness, communication and presentation
skills.
21 students have stayed the course and competed
in a Flux internal competition that CETL has organised in-house on 9 March

CETL Student Network Conference

This
conference with the theme, ‘Staff-Student Collaborations: Partnerships within
CETLs’, held on 16 – 17 June 2008 at the University of Plymouth, brought together around 80 students, various
CETLs, NUS and HEA staff members. Ina Maslejova, CETL Communications Officer and
Edita Markute, CETL Student Liaison Officer from Bridges CETL attended a
two-day programme of workshops that helped each CETL to disseminate its work
and highlight activities being carried out to enrich student engagement into

B:Fest, Luton Arts Festival
The School of Media, Art and Design hosted an exciting, visual and participatory Arts Festival in Luton in May and June 2008. For four weeks the town was turned into a vibrant performance
and exhibition space. Highlights particularly enjoyed by Luton audiences were the Lutopia exhibition by Ben Hodson, an
Evening of Poetry at Waterstones, Hip hop HeART by University dancers, Creative
Futures showcasing creative sector opportunities, photographic Fake Modern, graduate
film screenings, Under the Mask Gamer Conference and The Fifth Wall play by the award winning University of Bedfordshire Alumni theatre company ‘Up Stage’. View some of the B:Fest photos
CETL Open Day

Bridges CETL hosted an Open Day event on 8 February 2008. Through marketplace displays, CETL funded projects were presented and discussed with members of staff and students from the University View the CETL Open Day photos
CETL Student Conference in Warwick

On 10 and 12 December 2007, 50 students
from around the UK
attended the second national CETL Student Network event organised by a
committee of student volunteers. The event was held at the Reinvention Centre
and the Capital Centre, the University
of Warwick's two CETLs,
and was open to all students working in any way with CETLs or other linked
learning and teaching projects.
The event was designed to
encourage networking and to celebrate the achievements of students working with
CETLs, focusing on the benefits of student engagement for students, CETLs and

SEEC – Bridges Event

On 24 October 2007 Bridges CETL collaborated with SEEC to host an interactive PDP event in its creative space.

consisted of seminars and creative tasks showcasing the variety of activities

Bridges CETL Learning Spaces

The Bridges CETL Learning space is a professional working environment and comprises three different spaces - C-space (Creative space), F-space (Formal space), S-space (Social space). Each space accommodates up to 25 staff, students or
visitors and has been designed for flexibility. A range of technologies

CETL People

Bridges CETL has established a Core Team of staff including a CETL
Director, Associate Director, two Research Fellows, a Communications
Officer, Administrators and a Work Placement Student. It has also
appointed a team of CETL Fellows and CETL Associate Fellows, drawn form

Research on Cultural Aspects of PDP

Maja Jankowska is a Research Fellow and a PhD student working with CETL. Her research is on the
