Bedford campus parking

Parking at the University's Bedford campus is very limited. However, we have invested heavily in alternatives, so that most students will find there is no need to go to the expense of buying and running a car.

Bedford campus - town centre shuttle bus

We strongly recommend making use of the shuttle bus service that is provided by the University and runs between Bedford campus and the Alexander Sports Centre via Bedford town centre and the station, every half an hour during term time.

If you live in Bedford you will find it an excellent means of getting into or across town - if you live further away, use it in conjunction with public transport - it calls at both Bedford bus station and train station.

Parking bicycles at Bedford campus

Bedford has an extensive cycle track network, and being fairly flat is extremely easy to get around by bike.

Sheltered bike racks have been installed at Bedford campus, where shower and changing facilities and lockers are also provided.

Car Parking

Unfortunately, to meet the costs of running a secure, manned car park, we do have to charge for it. Pay and display tickets are available to all, and cost 25p for up to one and a half hours, 60p for up to four hours, or £1.20 for a full day.

Annual permits are only issued to disabled students   All other students should use the pay and display machines.

Car sharing

If you don't already know anyone to share a car with, your placement organisers may be able to put you in touch with someone suitable.

And even if you can't always come in with two colleagues, sharing a journey some of the time will help spread the cost of running and parking your car.

Luton campus students visiting Bedford campus

Students resident at Luton campus who have a parking permit for their accommodation may use their permit to park at Bedford campus.

Access for Disabled Students

The University of Bedfordshire recognises our responsibility to ensure that facilities are appropriate and accessible for all students.

The University's shuttle bus has a low platform and wheelchair access. In addition, drivers who are blue badge holders are entitled to free annual car permits.
