Roger Hawkey, currently Visiting Professor in English Language Assessment and Evaluation at CRELLA, supervises PhD students and participates in externally-funded research projects at the Centre.

He has a PhD in language education and testing, and is the author of the following recent books: A modular Approach to Testing English Language Skills (2004) and Impact Theory and Practice (2006), both published by Cambridge University Press. His newest book Key issues and recurring themes in developing the First Certificate in English and Certificate in Advanced English exams will be published in 2009.
His previous career has included University, Ministry of Education and British Council posts worldwide, with a focus on language teaching, testing, teacher education and curriculum design.

Current research and consultancy interests include language test impact study, evaluation and validation. He publishes regularly in these areas. Roger is also interested in learning
techniques, training
approaches, educational
policy and curriculum
design materials development.
