Beverly Wade
'Cluttergone' - Harlow, Essex
Cluttergone is a Professional Decluttering and Organising Service set up by Beverly Wade in January 2005 and offers a clutter clearing and organising service in and around London, the East/South East of England. Beverly is a member of the Association of Professional Declutterers and Organisers UK (APDO).
Beverly first began working with the Centre for Women’s Enterprise (CWE) in January 2007 and since then has attended numerous business growth workshops for self employed women.
The majority of Beverly’s business (97%) comes from internet enquiries and an ‘Enhancing your Website’ workshop which Beverly attended in March 2007 has resulted in an impressive increase in sales as a result of updating her website.
Following the workshop Beverly has been able to completely update the content of her website, updating Google Adwords, and employing a company to carry out search engine optimisation for her.
Beverly noted that ‘the course gave me the confidence to know what to ask for when approaching a web designer. I knew what I could do for myself and what work I could give to someone else. This really minimised my costs which in a small business is essential.’
Beverly has also experienced a great deal of success with national publications with articles published in ‘She’ and ‘Good Housekeeping’ magazines, resulting in a significant increase in enquiries and a real impact on turnover.
Although Beverly considered herself to be fairly knowledgeable when it came to writing articles the CWE Marketing and Copywriting Workshop which she attended in January 2007 ‘offered a validation of what I already knew and increased my confidence’
With the increase in business Beverly has sought to grow the capacity of her business away from the traditional route of taking on an employee and has opted to work in a strategic alliance partnership with another declutterer.
The ‘Developing Successful Partnerships for Business Growth’ workshop which Beverly attended in July 2007 has been beneficial in allowing Beverly to learn how to correctly maintain this strategic alliance partnership as well as planting the seeds for a future strategic alliance with another business woman who attended the workshop.
In summary Beverly noted ‘The courses are brilliant, I would say to any business women go on the courses as you will get more than you think out of the day.
You will meet new people, find out about other peoples businesses, share ideas, form relationships with other business women who you get to know well and all of this with no pressure to ‘network’ in a target driven environment.
These courses are stopping small businesses failing – larger companies have a training budget and can afford to pay for specialist training, however a small business cannot afford this kind of expenditure so the courses are invaluable’.
The workshops that Beverly attended were made possible thanks to funding from the European Social Fund and the East of England Development Agency.
