Victoria Griffiths
'The FunkiJunk Jewellery Company' - Burnham on Crouch, Essex.

The FunkiJunk Jewellery Company was set up by Victoria Griffiths in October 2006. The company prides itself on sourcing individual jewellery from around the world with a focus on using ethical and fair trade products wherever possible.
Victoria initially began to sell jewellery solely through home parties and as the demand for party bookings quickly increased it became clear that there was a need for more than one person to facilitate the parties. Victoria addressed this by offering other women the chance to run parties for The FunkiJunk Jewellery Company on a self employed basis. She currently has 5 consultants working under her brand – all of this after only 10 months of trading!
With the jewellery parties going from strength to strength Victoria turned her attention to the website side of her business. As Victoria acknowledged ‘a web presence is one of the best things a company can do’ and in order to improve this Victoria attended the CWE ‘Enhancing your Website to Grow your Business workshop’ in March 2007.
Prior to attending the course The FunkiJunk Jewellery Company website had received no sales and was only getting a few hundred hits a month. Following the workshop and the implementation of changes recommended to Victoria by the workshop trainer the website now receives regular sales and has made a real contribution to the growth of the business. The number of unique visitors to the site has now risen to approximately 2000 per month a ten fold increase on the previous number of visitors!
Speaking about the workshop Victoria stated ‘Liz (the trainer) was just fantastic, she told us how to bump yourself up the Google rankings, how to market yourself on your website, how to make the website relevant to the user as well as a number of other useful tips and advice. As a result of the workshop our website has now completely changed’.
Following the workshop Victoria has been able to make the following changes to her website:
- Introduce a Google Adwords Campaign.
- Add reciprocal links resulting in dramatically increased visits to the website.
- Introduce a statistic counter to monitor the amount of visitors to the website and their viewing patterns.
- Increased Google ranking from zero to a 2.
- Add ‘value added’ pages to the website such as a page on jewellery care and a fashion trends section enabling web searches on these topics to be directed to the website.
Victoria commented ‘The website has been the major vehicle for recruiting consultants and for advertising which has really enabled my business to grow. I started my business with £200 10 months ago and now have revenue of around £6000. If the workshop wasn’t fully funded I wouldn’t have been able to attend and the business simply wouldn’t be where it is today as a result’.
The workshop
that Victoria
attended was made possible thanks to funding from the European Social Fund and
the East of England Development Agency.
