Cardguy Case Study

Cardguy logo

Alan Harper has been running Cardguy for a number of years, promoting CCG games and selling via his eBay website a variety of game cards.

His successes has prompted him to further develop his business by setting up an e-commerce website from which to sell his cards.

Alan approached the ABC centre when he heard of our services through one of our students.

His brief was reasonably straightforward but to produce an e-commerce solution that is robust, secure and also attractive to customers was not a light undertaking and the ABC team had to investigate the best way to provide an effective solution at minimal cost.

We recruited Tamas Piros, a second year information systems student, to build the new system. Tamas’s previous experience with PHP and MySQL meant that he had sufficient skills to work with the chosen packages, an open source tool called OS Commerce and the widely recognised PayPal.

The chosen tools proved to be a challenge to work with but Tamas implemented a solution successfully learning a valuable amount of new skills on the way.

Mark Hooper of the ABC has been impressed with the outcomes of the project “Setting up Alan’s site has been a great experience, so thanks to Alan for his support and well done to Tamas for pulling it all together”.

Alan has been delighted with the results and has recommended us to colleagues for other development projects.
