Coronary Heart Disease (CHD), Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) and Stroke are major causes of premature morbidity and mortality across the world.
Therefore the need to ensure quality of service to patients with long term coronary heart disease is paramount in order to provide effective management and rehabilitation. Thus the provision and structure of services needs to be reviewed to ensure that patient needs are delivered by the most appropriate staff, to reduce unacceptable variations in health and the provisions of services.
This module will enable the development of relevant skills across a range of settings, as negotiated by you with your service manager and module co-ordinator, based on the best available knowledge and evidence to improve care for people with CHD.
This module will prepare health care professionals to deliver primary and secondary prevention of CHD and provide on-going support, within national and international standards and frameworks.
This unit has meaningful learning as it addresses the intellectual and practical relevance to coronary care. It is active as it requires negotiated practical skill development which is challenging as it requires the student to evaluate and synthesis new constructs.
It is reflective and collaborative as it allows the student to explore knowledge and skills from other agencies or collaborative processes and a forum to share that knowledge.
