The Department is a leading provider of specialist undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Accounting and Finance. It also contributes expertise and teaching on the MBA and Business Management MSc/BSc courses owned by other departments within the University.
Upon successful completion of an undergraduate degree, our students receive exemptions from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Our BA (Hons) Accounting and BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance students also receive expemptions from the Association of International Accountants (AIA).
The Department consists of a team of highly qualified members. The majority of our staff hold PhDs and/or are qualified accountants. Most have substantial industry experience and are engaged in applied research.
We have a strong international profile and are notable for our links with China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Oman.
We have recently made considerable investments in our teaching facilities. The improvements to the teaching and learning environment include a Reuters simulation finance trading room, Datastream financial databases and EQL.
To strengthen students’ quantitative and practical skills, we also teach EViews, SPSS and Sage Accounts package. Mastering the techniques of using these packages will significantly improve students’ employability.
