"An Examination of the
Relationship between Corporate Governance, Financial Reporting Credibility
and Corporate Transparency in a Transition Economy: Evidence from Kuwait", supervised by Prof
Magdy Abdel–Kader.
During the last ten years, many financial scandals happened around world. Enron and Worldcom Companies work as examples of that.
Corporate Governance has received tremendous interest on research agenda, being
an enormously important topic for shareholders and creditors in economic
corporations. By definition, corporate governance is "the ways in which
the suppliers of finance to corporations assure themselves of getting a return
on their investment" (Shleifer & Vishny, 1997). This research will
investigate the role of Corporate Governance in the transparency for disclosure
of financial reporting credibility for the Kuwait's companies. The
fluctuations in the stock exchange and banking sector in Kuwait that have afflicted Kuwait recently
could be an example of the lack of transparency and credible financial data. Therefore,
this research will be a value for Kuwait's companies.
