"A
Model of Human Resource Accounting for Appraisal of Investment on the
Development of Human Capital in Manufacturing Organizations", supervised by Prof Magdy Abdel-Kader.
Second supervisor: Muhammad Azam Roomi.
The present study aims to
empirically examine the impact of human resource development on the bottom line
of organisations. It is based on some conceptual aspects of human resource
accounting that how investments on development of human capital can be measured
to investigate the financial returns for the organisations.
The proposed study
is basically exploratory in nature as this is first of its nature on Pakistani
manufacturing sector. The whole research process consists of three main phases
as: the literature review; the survey study; and the thesis writing up.
The
sample will comprise of four to five hundred leading companies of Pakistani industrial
sector. A self-administered postal questionnaire is designed for the research
survey. The results will be derived by
using SPSS software and capital investment appraisal techniques of accounting
such as: return on investment; benefit to cost ratio; payback period; weighted
average cost of capital; and bottom line evaluation; etc.
The results will prove the association between the investment in the development of human capital and the benefits which organisation can reap from this investment. This study is a ground-breaking work in Pakistan, which is also an addition to the existing global literature on human resource accounting.
