"Cross-national study of commercial banks’ lending behaviour towards SMEs" supervised by Professor Dr Anthony Stevenson.
Second supervisor: Magdy Abdel-Kader.
The primary goal of this thesis is to conduct comparative study of commercial banks’ lending behaviour towards SMEs in different countries. It incorporates behavioural finance approach to study the influences on banks’ loan officers’ risk perceptions and attitudes in loan assessment processes and how these affect their decisions. In this thesis, a framework used as a basis for data collection is constructed. It is based on three types of institutions: cognitive, normative and regulative. The collected data is to be analysed using interpretative approach with support of Nvivo® data analysis software.
