Michael has taught at the London South Bank University, Birkbeck College, London, University of Bologna and at the Stuttgart University of Cooperative Education (Visiting Professor at the last two).

His background is varied…

  • Six years as Head of Accounting and Finance Department, London South Bank University Business School. Also Professor of Educational Development
  • 14 years as Resources Director and Business Development Coordinator, Head of Division of Information Technology Management and other roles at London South Bank University Business School
  • Five years as a Senior University Administrator: Finance Director and Third Stream
  • Seven years in the private sector as a banker, corporate accountant and in the accountancy profession (Hacker Young, London)
  • Past President of the UK System Dynamics Society (SDS)
  • Fellow and a former/current committee member of ACCA, SDS and BCS

Michael is particularly interested in the areas of Auditing, Corporate Finance, Management Accounting, Investment Appraisal and System Thinking and Simulation Modelling. He has published 20 books and conference proceedings and over 50 academic papers.

He founded and led the Centre for Social and Financial Systems Research which engages in System Thinking and Simulation Modelling regarding Finance, Business Processes, Public Policy, Sustainability and Education.
