I have been a senior lecturer with the University for over twenty years. My clinical practice focussed on acute care and orthopaedics and I trained and worked as a ward sister at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital following my general training at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital.
My Masters degree was in research and evaluation and I have developed a keen interest in research theory and teach on several research units within the faculty. My teaching incorporates both pre and post-registration courses and I regularly link with acute practice areas at the local hospital and work some days each year there to keep abreast of current nursing practice.
I am also interested in the role of service users to underpin our practice, and am soon to be involved in a research project investigating the planning of discharge for vulnerable adults, which will necessitate interviewing carers and patients to seek a deeper understanding of their needs and the problems they face. I value the personal academic tutor role and keep in contact with many of my former students.
I am married with a grown up son who is currently training as a solicitor and have a variety of interests including boating and involvement with my local church.
