Frank Milligan

Profile

Frank Milligan, Senior Lecturer

Frank Milligan

The majority of my teaching takes place with pre and post registration nursing students, although I am also involved in post-graduate medical education in relation to patient safety, communication and teamwork.

On the pre-registration nursing programme I work closely with students at the start and end of their programme on issues such as clinical skills, communication, nursing theory and patient safety.

My facilitation work with qualified staff revolves around the concepts of mentorship, facilitating learning and patient safety.

Research interests

My research and publication interests have included work on male nurses and educational theory.

More recently I have moved in to the field of patient safety.

The latter includes collaborative links with local healthcare providers and a recent 18 month part-time secondment with the National Patient Safety Agency as a nurse advisor.
