I became a registered nurse in 1966. I first specialised in orthopaedics and then spinal injury nursing, working as a ward sister on the NSIC Stoke Mandeville.
I became a nurse teacher in 1984 and a senior lecturer when nurse education moved into the then University of Luton in 1996. I have maintained my interest in spinal cord injury nursing.
