Lall Aubeeluck

Profile

Lall Aubeeluck, Senior Lecturer

RN, Intensive Care Cert., Dip. (N) Part A., Cert. Ed., RNT, BSc.(Hons), ENB 934, MSc, Lic. Ac.,

I started my Nurse Training in Cardiff in 1968 after arriving from Mauritius.  I moved to Luton in 1973 to become Charge Nurse in the Intensive Therapy Unit.

After six years in this role I took the post of Charge Nurse on nights for a couple of years and then returned to Cardiff to study for my teaching qualification at Cardiff University.

I have been involved in teaching student nurses since 1980 and was responsible for the implementation of the Adult Branch of the Diploma Programme in 1989.

Post-Registration responsibilities have included managing several units. My primary  involvement has been in the course units dealing with surgical aspects of care.

Over the years I have been chairman/member of several committees that consolidate theory and practice issues.

I work very closely with practice colleagues to enhance the quality of the learning environment for students. This work involves supporting mentors to facilitate the students' learning.

There are several areas of practice that I link with, both at the Luton and Dunstable NHS Foundation Trust and in the private sector.

I have done several presentations on topics of interest in Sri Lanka, Ohio, USA and UK on areas that I explored as part of my BSc and MSc degrees.

I have a particular interest in Complementary Therapy and for my Master's I explored the rituals associated with the deceased.

As a long serving member of the education team I provide support to academic and administrative staff on several issues relating to students (past and current).

In my current role I am primarily involved in preparing students for their first practice experience. This role is very diverse and we deal with both academic and personal issues that students encounter as they settle into their professional careers.

I am a keen gardener (cultivating up to 3 allotments until recently) and I have been practising organic gardening since the late 1970s.
