Philip Mardlin

Senior Lecturer in Children's Nursing

philip-mardlin130

I have been in the nursing profession for nearly 15 years, qualifying first as an adult nurse (right here at the University of Luton; as it was back then) and subsequently as a paediatric nurse at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.

I spent a large proportion of my career specialising in children’s cancer, attaining my first degree in Children’s Cancer Nursing.

I have been with the University of Bedfordshire for six years and I currently teach on the pre-registration nursing programme.

My main teaching occurs in the Common Foundation Programme and the Child Branch.

My interests within nursing remain in the area of children’s cancer and in particular with survivors of childhood cancer and blood disorders. I also have a keen interest in child development and simulation exploring how performing arts can blend with health care education

Outside of the profession I have a keen interest in Performing Arts, having recently completed a BA (Hons) in English and Theatre studies in my spare time.  I can often be found involved with the local Bedford Performing Arts Groups!
