I started my Nursing career as a Cadet Nurse at Bedford Hospital in 1976 and commenced my nurse training in 1977 with Bedford School of Nursing. I qualified as a RGN in 1980 and worked for 4 years as a Staff Nurse at Bedford Hospital in Paediatrics, Accident and Emergency and Trauma and Orthopaedics.
In 1984 I was promoted to Ward Sister on a Trauma and Orthopaedic Ward during which time I became involved in teaching with responsibility for the In-service training.
In 1988 I joined the Bedfordshire School of Nursing as a nurse tutor and have been in nurse education since then with Luton College of HE now the University of Bedfordshire.
I work closely with colleagues from practice helping them to support and facilitate student nurses in the care environment. In my role as NHS Coordinator for Bedford Hospital Trust I link closely with Senior Nurses to maintain and improve the education-practice partnership. As a Link Lecturer I have responsibility for several practice placements at Bedford Hospital Trust and the Independent Sector.
