George Lovett

Senior Lecturer Interior Design

George Lovett is an architect with specific interest and significant recent practice in integrated design and education projects. With an emphasis on strategic and participartory processes the objectives are to explore the consequences of architectural practice, public intervention, collaboration and social context. Since 2009 George has worked in partnership with five schools around the UK, with staff & children (aged 4-14), on projects that address both curriculum and spatial needs.

In recent architectural practice George has worked on social housing and community projects across the UK, landscape for the 2012 Olympic development and as project architect for the Jubilee Gardens Pavilion, South Bank Centre, London.

George was an Arts Council of England International Fellow in Huesca, Spain (2006-7). He has executed public interventions, and been exhibited in England, Austria, Finland, Norway and most notably as part of the Taiwan International Design Expo. George has presented his work at conferences in Canada, Ireland and the European Forum for Emerging Creators in Luxembourg. Work / writing has been featured in the Taiwanese Design Journal ‘Egg’(Nov/Dec05), ‘Architecture &…’ (Winter 2010), ‘Limieted Language’ (2011) and the books ‘The National Poetry Anthology’(05), ‘City Awakening’(06), ‘This would never happen in Accrington…’ (07) and ‘Artists’ Experiences’(07).

George serves on the RIBA validation panel and is part of the pool of chair people.
