Originally from Krakow, Poland, where she studied philology and translation, Sława Harasymowicz graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2006 and is currently based in London. Since graduating from the RCA she has participated in a range of exhibitions and independent publishing projects.
‘Harasymowicz’s images share the directness of Andy Warhol’s screen printed paintings, only the subject matter is very different. Whereas Warhol made visual statements on the nihilistic nature of contemporary materialism, Harasymowicz (with her) fragmented picture narratives as well as her paintings, prints and installations speculates on the force of history and its hold over our memory and imagination...' (Andrzej Klimowski, Royal College of Art, November 2011)
A double winner at V&A Illustration Awards and a jury member at the Awards in 2010, she is also a recipient of the Arts Foundation Fellowship 2008. A frequent contributor to Guardian Weekend Magazine, Penguin Books, BBC online and BBC I-player, and interested in the non-commercial film poster, she exhibits regularly at international biennales and exhibitions.
Her current projects include Wolf Man, a graphic novel published March 2012 by Self Made Hero in collaboration with the Freud Estate, and to be followed by an exhibition later in the year.
