I have taught for The Open University since 1994 on various social science courses and this was how I first came to work at the University of Luton, as a visiting lecturer, for the spring semester of 2003. My role has grown somewhat since then!
Prior to 2003, I worked in business for Scandinavian and British management consultancy firms and before then as a research assistant in Parliament for two different MPs. I have also been a member of the consumer body, the Air Transport Users Council, a non-executive director of the think tank, the Social Market Foundation, and the chair of the European Public Health Foundation, the European wing of the All Party Parliamentary Group on HIV/Aids.
I am currently a trustee of You Press Partnerships, the online organisation working to promote the voice of young people in the mainstream media of different countries.
As the first member of my family to be born in the UK – we come from Belgium, where many of my relatives live today – I have worked most effectively in contexts of diversity and difference both internationally and in the UK.
I have a Facebook Page and I am also part of LinkedIn.
