I have worked with both Children and Young People for almost thirty years. Initially I trained as both a Youth Worker and a Counsellor although I have worked within education for most of my career. This began when I had the opportunity to work with women returning to education. I taught Counselling Skills and Assertiveness Training for a number of years with adults. Therefore communication skills are important to me. I feel that I have a real energy and enthusiasm for my role as course coordinator. Fairness and equality for all are very important to me.
Within the department I am a Senior Lecturer, a member of the Department Executive Group, I have a further role as a Link Liaison Tutor. This enables me to liaise with our local colleges, in particularly those teaching Early Years. I attend the Teaching Quality Standard Committee and the Partnership Liaison Meetings. In addition I am currently the Course Coordinator for the Post Graduate Systemic Therapy Course taught within the department.
While previously working for a large counselling organisation I composed/ compiled new courses to be delivered nationally.
