Prof Margaret Melrose

Professor of Social Policy and Applied Social Research; Director of the Centre for Young People, Poverty and Social Disadvantage with the Institute of Applied Social Research

Margaret Melrose

I contribute to teaching on a range of programmes within the department at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, including Masters Programmes and Professional Doctorate. I undertake supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students as they carry out work for their independent projects, dissertations and PhD theses.

I am currently involved in research projects investigating young women’s experiences of custody and resettlement and young people’s experiences of sexual victimisation and sexual violence in gangs.

My published work has appeared in national and international publications and has been presented at many national and international conferences. I am Chair of the Institute for Applied Social Research Ethics Committee.
