Thomas Politis: BA Hons Business Administration and MSc e-Business

Thomas Politis

BA Hons Business Administration, 2000 and MSc e-Business, 2002

Thomas Politis

"I now work as an e-commerce consultant."

Thomas Politis liked the University of Luton so much, he did two degrees before returning home to his native Greece.

Now he’s keen to hear from other Greek students who studied at Luton to set up an Alumni Association in Greece.

He explained: “There is a large number of University of Luton graduates from Greece and most of them have returned home but, like me, cannot forget those beautiful student years and seek a link with their University. Somebody had to start an Alumni Association in Greece and I decided to do the big step forward.

“I graduated with my first degree in business administration – as many of the Greek students did from Luton in 2000. Then I decided to combine my interest in business, my love for sales, and my passion for computers, graphic arts and the Internet for my Masters degree.

“After a long search I selected Luton one more time for an MSc in e-Business. The program was pioneer for its era (as only three Universities were offering something similar) and both the tutors and the Luton multinational community made it very interesting.

“Studying business in Luton is a unique experience as you can have the live reactions of different kinds of people, from various nationalities, to business projects and ideas.

“I returned to Greece and started to work immediately as a self-employed e-commerce consultant and web developer, with much success.

“After I finished my one-year compulsory military service, as military interpreter at the telecommunications corps, and some resting time, I had an offer for a job at the marketing department of a well-established company in the area of stationery, office and hobby products.

“Now I have the pleasure to work with one of the leaders in the Greek market while I am continuing my business as e-commerce consultant.

“Four years in Luton was an unforgettable experience and now I am in the process of creating a University of Luton alumni club in Greece in order to strengthen the relations between University of Luton graduates, and promote the University of Luton in Greece.”
