Work placement year

On the BA(Hons) Business Studies, Business Studies (Specialism's) and BSc(Hons) Business Decision Management, you have the opportunity to do a work placement year, in year 3.

The Work Placement year provides you with the opportunity to gain work experience and an understanding of the world of work. You will have the opportunity to set yourself individual learning targets; to extend your range of learning styles to include learning from practice, from constructive dialogue with your workplace supervisor, work colleagues, placement tutor and from reflective writing in your portfolio; and to gain confidence and competence in a working environment.

In year 2 you will receive help and instructions for obtaining a Work Placement which will include tuition in Curriculum Vitae preparation, the writing of Letters of Application, and interviewing skills.

The Work Placement will enable you to:

Improve personal skills, interpersonal skills and business skills
Prepare for a full-time career on completion of your degree
Develop your awareness of professional working practice and Increase your employability level
Relate theory learnt in your first two years of study to practical issues
Apply practical knowledge to learning in the final year of your degree.

We advise all students to undertake the work placement year, to gain invaluable experience and to enhance their studies in the final year.
