Dr Malcolm Keech

Before joining the University in 1999, Malcolm Keech had worked extensively in computing and IT development and management, both in the academic and industrial sectors.

While his original academic background lies in mathematics (BA Oxford, MSc/PhD Manchester), Malcolm's professional experience includes periods at the London School of Economics, the Universities of London and Manchester, Florida State University, British Telecom and British Aerospace.

He was Head of Computing and Information Systems at the Luton Campus for 5 years before acting as Dean of the CATS Faculty and moving to his present role.

Malcolm is both a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (Chartered Mathematician) and a Fellow of the British Computer Society (Chartered IT Professional).

While representing the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council on a supercomputer benchmarking exercise in Japan, Malcolm became versed in the art of karaoke singing.

He has since kept up this tradition on University visits to China, which have encouraged him to start learning Mandarin.

In the last year, Malcolm was sponsored by a British Council partnership development grant under the Prime Minister's Initiative for International Education to visit three universities in Nigeria.
