We have all been there, experiencing and dealing with the trials and tribulations of growing up.
When we look at cinema, we see we are not alone. Youth in cinema has been a continued theme amongst many great film makers and as this festivals shows, it is not restricted to certain countries.
The Student Screen organisation are pleased to announce the 2012 film festival to be hosted by and for the University of Bedfordshire.
This year's film festival will look at the struggles of youth displayed in a variety of world cinema. Quite appropriately named, the festival is called Growing Pains and guest speakers have been invited to attend providing talks about some of the films included on the programme and youth within cinema.
Mark Collington from our very own University will be introducing our first film, Persepolis (2007) with a lecture about animation.
A total of six films are to be screened, with more great speakers providing their insight into youth in cinema. Well known faces such as Kate Winslet, Craig Roberts and Gael García Bernal are just some of the actors and actresses providing the face to youth.
Whether you have an interest in film, youth in film or not, everyone is welcome and we look forward to seeing you at this event.
