As Field Manager for the Healthcare Masters programmes I am responsible for implementing quality initiatives and monitoring standards across a suite of masters’ programmes.
Other dimensions of this role include leading the development of programmes that reflect contemporary healthcare practice and supporting Programme Leaders in the organisation and smooth running of their programmes.
I teach pre and post registration nurses at diploma and undergraduate levels and also mental health practitioners at postgraduate level.
My area of expertise is acute mental health care and my teaching interests include working with service users in crisis, psychosocial interventions, recovery, assessment in mental health care and psychology applied to nursing.
I am a registered mental nurse and throughout my teaching career I have tried to maintain strong links with practice.
I am currently working one session per week with service users with complex needs.
I rejoined the University as a senior lecturer in September 2006 after a 4 year period working for a leading mental health charity.
During this period I gained valuable experience in developing, project managing and delivering bespoke short courses, practice development projects and postgraduate programmes for mental health practitioners from a range of disciplines.
I am trying to build upon these experiences in my current role. My aims are to provide programmes that appeal to healthcare workers from a variety of professional backgrounds and to facilitate service user involvement in the educational process.
