Bella Madden

Field of Practice Lead Pre Registration Midwifery

bella-maddenPrior to joining the University as a lecturer in midwifery in 1999, I worked as a clinical midwife for seven years, during which time I ran a listening/debriefing service for women. Since coming into education, I have taken a lead in the development of the reflective practice strategy within midwifery education, and in the review and development of the midwifery curriculum overall. Prior to becoming a midwife, I trained as a secondary school and further education college teacher specialising in the social sciences. This background still informs my main interests within the midwifery context in teaching and research.
