National Sameday

National Sameday Case Study

National Sameday logo

Partha Dey the Managing Director of National Sameday courier services has great links with the university having regularly held seminars on various subjects. So when he came to us at the ABC we were delighted to help.

With many small businesses there are usually issues with implemented technologies that prevent full utilisation, in this case the businesses website was not reaching its full potential. Partha had recognised that for his site to deliver value to the business he needed to apply search engine optimisation to improve its search engine rankings but he did not have the time or expertise to do it effectively.

We recruited undergraduate student Kosala Samarajiwa to devise a search engine optimisation (SEO) strategy for the business to implement. The strategy needed to cover both the short and long term needs to ensure that the immediate requirements were met but also so that a long term effort could be applied to ensure the site was continuously effective.

Kosala rose to the challenge and produced a quality report over a three month period. He worked closely with the client and provided valuable advice on the redesign of the site structure and the overall implementation of a sound SEO strategy.

This project was an excellent opportunity for us at the ABC to utilize Kosala’s experience in SEO to help a valued client. This captures what the ABC is about, not only does it provide experience for our students so that they have the edge when they enter industry but it also enables us to support local businesses with limited expertise in technical areas through a reasonably priced service.

Like all projects there were obstacles to overcome but by working as a team a successful delivery was achieved. Reflecting on the project Kosala commented “I believe these are characteristics of real world project…all in all I believe the project was a success on the grounds of being able to show a working implementation of the project deliverable”.

When it looked like the project was beginning to falter due to issues with the businesses existing site Kosala went that extra mile by taking on extra responsibilities to ensure that the team was supported effectively and completed to schedule.

This project’s success was strengthened by Partha’s belief that close relationships with your local educational institution can only help drive a business forward. Partha said: “Kosala has produced a great piece of work that will prove to be of great value to us, working with the University has been a rewarding experience, our business has benefited greatly. Not only was the technical content designed but there was a technology transfer in order to assist me in the ongoing update and maintenance of the site. It was a pleasure to work with enthusiastic, intelligent and creative people and I look forward to working again with the University on our next project”.
