Dr Tim French

Senior Lecturer in Computing

Tim French

Tim is a former Industry Fellow and has extensive commercial knowledge and experience having made a distinguished contribution to the field of computer semiotics. He has acted as PhD examiner for King's College London, Middx University and De Montford University and is currently leader of the BSc. (Hons.) Software Engineering. He is a member of BCS Reqs. Engineering & Interaction (HCI) Specialist Groups. He has pioneered the application of Computer Semiotics to "real-world" domains and is a reviewer for numerous Journals and Conferences.

Tim has over 70+ scholarly publications to his name and is currently writing a book on Semiotic Engineering. He has PhD completions and is supervising several PhD students. Computer textual analysis (literary & musical) is one research node. He has delivered several invited research talks in recent years including: Philips Research Centre (Taiwan), The Open University, Sheffield Hallam University and Derby University.

Tim completed his PhD part-time at Reading University (School of Systems Engineering/Henley Business School) under the supervision of Kecheng Liu (Informatics Research Centre) in the field E-Trust.
